It's still amazing to me that travelling to the United States is much cheaper than travelling to the majority of Caribbean islands, even within our CARICOM bubble. My dream of exploring the beautiful islands of the Caribbean were crushed once I started doing research. Then, the little glimmer of hope that was Red Jet (do a quick search if it does not ring a bell but IKYK) also faded pretty quickly.
Anyway, you are here because you want to know the cheapest Caribbean destinations from Trinidad. Bonus being that these are less than TT$1,500 return.
You would be surprised to know that one of the cheapest destinations is actually Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Followed by Saint Lucia, Barbados and Grenada.
In case you just came for this, and read nothing else (you can reconsider), here it is, in list format, in bold, just for you:
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Saint Lucia
Barbados
Grenada
To score these great prices takes a little advanced planning and flexibility, in that, you can't book a flight Friday for Saturday or think of visiting at the last minute in peak months such as July or August and pay less than TT$1,500.
These costs are an estimate and of course, can sometimes be lower or higher depending on the period. Check out my top travel planning apps to see how I monitor prices and the main apps I use when planning a vacation.
Of course this is not representative of the final cost for your Caribbean vacation, unless you have free accommodation which helps to save a ton. However, remember there are other considerations that affect your overall cost when planning a vacation. Check out my post on How to Plan a Vacation for Beginners to learn to plan like a pro.
