How to Travel to Europe from Trinidad | The Best Flight Route

Updated: Jan 25

I've traveled 3 times to Italy from Trinidad and this route has made 2 of those trips so much easier for me, and definitely will for you too.

KLM Airlines introduced 6 new routes and Trinidad (POS) is one of them! Not excited yet, this is why you should be.

If any European countries have been on your travel bucket list, then this makes getting there 100% easier and in most instances much cheaper.

This new route option vastly lowers the barriers to European travel from Trinidad and Tobago as well as the wider Caribbean. Traditionally, there were no direct routes to Europe from the Caribbean as all routes required layovers.

The available routes were not the most accessible either due to the transit airport or the overall cost. One of the easiest routes was through the US either Miami (MIA) or New York (JFK) however, one would need to have a US visa which we know is not the easiest document to attain. Another route was through Canada, for which Trinidadians also need to have a Visa, the advantage though is that Canada allows for a Transit Visa, however of course this also requires paperwork.

Other routes included transit through South American countries such as Panama and the Dominican Republic. The most expensive route was possibly through the UK which also required transit through Barbados as at the time there were no direct flights to the UK from Trinidad.

However, this is no more, thanks to the expansion of KLM routes.

Another one of their routes which I am excited for is Amsterdam to Phuket. Thailand is one of my Bucket list destinations so I will definitely be monitoring their flights to score a lovely deal.

Visit KLM to view flights as costs and routes are subject to change.

Are you from Trinidad and Tobago and unsure if you need a visa to visit Amsterdam or any other country? Use the easy passport tool on our site to find out in less than 30 seconds.

As for Amsterdam, no you don't need a visa as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago. 🙌🏾
